Time Brings Change, Change Takes Time

Rolling River God by Nichole Nordeman has been a favorite song of mine for years. You can listen to it here and quickly understand why I love it so much. But one of the lines has always stood out to me…

“I know that time brings change and change takes time.”

I think about this lyric each time there is a life transition. It reminds me that not everything will always stay the same. In fact, life would be a little boring if there wasn’t change. Yet, change can be scary. Transition can be uncomfortable. That whole unknown thing is a tricky one.

Change doesn’t surprise God. But it can surprise us. He also knows that our adjustment to that change will take time.

Still, this is where that scary, uncomfortable, unknown part comes into play for most… or, maybe just me. And this is where I, we, have to reach back into our hearts memory bank and unwrap all those treasured moments where God has provided for, prepared, made known, supplied all our needs. Never once has he not been a good, good Father.

Time is a beautiful thing. It is a gift God gives us. And whether the times are good, tough, or bring unexpected change, he is still God of it all.

So, if you’re in a time of change, remember that God has approved the time it has taken to get here, and that he will provide what you need to navigate this change in time. More importantly, there is purpose in the change. Lean into that and watch that truth unfold.

Are you facing change today? I would love to know about it and pray for you. Email me or leave a comment.
